Education in Canada

In Canada, education is the responsibility of each province and territory. The system is organized into elementary and secondary schools. Elementary schools are from Kindergarden to grade 8. Secondary school is from grade 9 to grade 12.
Elementary and Secondary schools are publicly funded and administered by district school boards. Private schools do not receive funding from the government.

Ministries Responsible for Education in Canada represents the interests of the provinces and territories nationally and internationally. Through this council the ministers consults and cooperate with national organizations and the federal government.
 
Secondairy Schools in Canada: A Student Transfer Guide will give you an idea of the requirements for Grades 9 to Grade 12 in Canada. The school year extends from the first week in September to the last week in June. All permanent residents between the ages of 6 and 18 must attend school. Students who live farther away from school are bussed to school. They are picked up at home and dropped off at school.
